Dr Stuart Butterly

Stuart is an interventional cardiologist and structural heart specialist. He has a special interest in treating complex and previously untreatable coronary artery disease, and a passion for distal radial artery access for coronary angiography and stenting.

He fell in love with the Sunshine Coast after being rotated to Nambour General Hospital early in his training. After completing his training in Brisbane and Perth with an interventional cardiology fellowship, he returned to paradise to take up cardiology consulting at various local hospitals and now is a director of Heart HQ.

Stuart remains a keen researcher as well as maintaining academic roles. In his rare spare time, Stuart has been known to enjoy bouncing around on his tractor, following the West Coast Eagles, cycling, and spending quality time with his wife and daughters. His daily ambition is to make the perfect espresso at home.
