Podcast episode 9: Takotsubo and Perioperative Risk Assessment

In this week’s episode Peter and Stuart discuss Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy and Perioperative Risk Assessment.

Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy often occurs after severe emotional or physical stress. It is so-called because it causes the left ventricle to balloon out and resemble the shape of pots the Japanese use to catch octopus (like the one shown in this article).

They also list the top 5 things to consider when carrying out a Perioperative Risk Assessment.
