Tara Willcocks
Born and bred in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast, Tara didn’t venture too far from home when she decided to complete her Bachelor of Nursing at the Sunshine Coast University. Having excelled in her graduate positions, Tara accelerated her career to a clinical nurse position on a busy urology and orthopedic ward where she was then presented an opportunity to complete her graduate certificate in wound care and stomal therapy.
Frequently, Tara’s skills and exceptional management of patient care saw her called upon to work as hospital coordinator which gave her insight into how multi-faceted the medical industry was and that there was an abundance of options for her future career growth. Acting on this and with a desire for knowledge and career progression, Tara then completed
her Master of Nurse Practitioner at the University of Queensland.
Utilising her prior skills, Tara then worked as a Nurse Practitioner for five years in Urology and Men’s Health – specialising in prostate cancer. Whilst she was employed as a Nurse Practitioner, Tara also continued to work in a critical care unit and emergency departments where she discovered her passion for cardiology. It was then in early 2022 Tara began working for Heart HQ to provide holistic, collaborative care to our cardiology patients.
Outside of working as an Interventional Cardiology Nurse Practitioner Tara enjoys the outdoors, travelling, playing soccer and spending time with her family.
